Evan R. Daugharthy, PhD

President, CSO, Founder

Before founding Harton, Evan R. Daugharthy, PhD, served as a scientific founder and Vice President of Science at ReadCoor. As a principal inventor of fluorescent in situ sequencing (FISSEQ), he led the R&D efforts that advanced true spatial sequencing technology. His contributions were recognized by multiple accolades, including his selection to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Healthcare in 2015.

Dr. Daugharthy received his PhD in Systems, Synthetic, and Quantitative Biology from Harvard Medical School, where he worked in the renowned laboratory of Professor George Church. His doctoral research was supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, where his undergraduate thesis—advised by Dr. Junhyong Kim—won the prestigious Neysa Cristol Adams Prize in Biology as well as the Excellence in Genomics Undergraduate Award from the Penn Genome Frontiers Institute. Following his undergraduate studies, he conducted postbaccalaureate research on human genetic diversity, evolution, and adaptation within African populations with Dr. Sarah Tishkoff at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
